The Return of the Three Musketeers was just on Channel 4... except I didn't know this until about half an hour before the end, and hence seem to have managed to miss the entirety of Christopher Lee's performance in it. Very annoying, since I've never seen it before, and would definitely have taped it if I'd known. *Grinds teeth*

I do try very hard to keep track of his appearances on TV, mainly using DigiGuide, but of course searching for the string "Christopher Lee" only brings up items where he is billed fairly high in the credits, since DigiGuide obviously can't list every single actor who appears in every film shown. Sometimes I get lucky and spot things which don't come up on a search... and sometimes I don't. :(

Whee! The new series of Six Feet Under is coming up on Channel 4! This is what DigiGuide has to say on the matter:

DRAMA: Six Feet Under
Channel: Channel 4
Date: Tuesday 17th August 2004
Time: 23:05 to 00:20 (starting in 13 days)
Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Falling Into Place.
Darkly comic drama series. In an attempt to honour his late wife Lisa's last wishes, Nate finds himself at odds with Lisa's family. David and Keith look for new ways to start over in their relationship. Federico seeks a priest for absolution, while his wife, Vanessa, tires of her sister Angelica. Claire shares a secret with ex-lover Russell and Brenda gets to know her neighbour Joe better.

Starring: Peter Krause, Michael C Hall, Ben Foster, Rachel Griffiths, Justin Theroux, Lauren Ambrose
(New Series, Subtitles, 5 Star)

Now if only Channel 4 could see their way to screening the new series of The West Wing, rather than restricting it to E4.... :(

Farewell, Frasier!

I think of myself as liking Sex and the City more than Frasier, and indeed the overall themes of SATC are more appealing to me. But as far as my personal laugh-o-meter is concerned, Frasier definitely wins hand down every time. Yup, SATC will raise the occasional chuckle. But Frasier has me hooting with helpless laughter practically every time I watch it.

Tonight, this magnificent series comes to an end on Ch 4 with a two-parter finale (*sob*). If you even slightly like it, don't miss this great occasion. If you've never seen it in your life, watch it tonight anyway! Older episodes are still being shown in the daytime, so you won't have to discover you like it tonight and then never get to see it again.

From the ever-helpful DigiGuide, this is what we have in store this evening (all Channel 4):

21:00 - Frasier: Analysing the Laughter (documentary about the programme)

21:45 - My Favourite Frasier (the programme's cast pick their favourite moments)

[22:00 - annoying hiatus while 'Big Brother' is shown]

22:50 - Frasier: Goodnight Seattle (part 1)

23:25 - Frasier: Goodnight Seattle (part 2)

And, rounding off the evening nicely:
23:55 to 00:30 - Sex and the City (episode 2.10)

Be there, or forever wish you had been!

I'm not giving big guarantees about this, as I haven't seen it yet... But you just might like to check out a new series entitled 'Kingdom Hospital' (IMDb page here, BBC cult TV page here), which starts tonight on BBC2.

It's Stephen King's remade version of Lars von Trier's original 'Riget' (Danish for 'The Kingdom'), which some of us here in Oxford got pretty excited about. I'm wary of Stephen King remaking something so unusual, but according to a few reviews I've seen by Americans who've already seen it aired in the States, it does seem to be coming across pretty well. Not just shlock horror, but atmospheric and character-driven, like the original.

Anyway, this is what DigiGuide (find out what it is if you don't know; get it if you don't have it) has to say about the first episode (a longer-than-normal pilot):

DRAMA: Kingdom Hospital
Channel: BBC 2
Date: Sunday 9th May 2004
Time: 22:00 to 23:20 (starting this evening)
Duration: 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Thy Kingdom Come.
Spine-chilling drama series set in a haunted hospital. A victim of a hit-and-run accident is admitted to Kingdom Hospital, and awakes from his coma able to make contact with the spirits inhabiting the hospital.
Starring: Andrew McCarthy, Bruce Davison, Ed Begley Jr, Diane Ladd, Jack Coleman, William Wise
(New Series, Widescreen, Subtitles, Audio Described)

I shall certainly be watching with anticipation!
